Giveaway Time!!!
I'm so very excited to present a wonderful giveaway today!!
The HearALL Assessment Recorder!!
I've been using this handy little gadget in my classroom for well over a month now and my students and I LOVE it! What do I love about it you ask??
- It's light weight and easy to use!
- The sound is very clear and high quality.
- It allows me to be in two places at once.
- The reluctant/shy students are motivated to read aloud to it.
- The kids are under it's charm and stay focused when reading to it.
- It doesn't need batteries.
- You can play back recordings on the spot, save for later, send to a parent via email, upload recording to your blog, etc... (So much potential!!)
- Wonderful way to practice fluency! They can buddy read in a fun voice (cowboy/robot/alien/etc.) then play it back and listen to themselves. Super fun!!

ReplyDeleteWe're just starting to use DRA at the private school where I teach, so I'd love to use the assessment recorder to help me work through those.
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome. I would love to be able to use this in my classroom next year. I would like to set up a schedule for a few readers per day to use it. That way I could individually hear them read aloud a longer passage every week.

ReplyDeleteI teach K-6 reading intervention, and so many of my students struggle with fluency and comprehension. I think this would be so wonderful to have for my students to use for self-assessment! I love that it can be used for all age groups, and that you can e-mail the recordings to parents!

I would use the hearALL Assessment Recorder for fluency assessment. It would be telling to teach students what I listen for and have them "score" their own reading, as well as set goals for improvement. I also love the options for recording assessments to share with grade level team meetings, administration, student study team meetings or parents too. Nice easy artifact gathering tool!

ReplyDeleteI would use this to record myself reading, to record students reading and to spy on others by hiding it...totally kidding about the last part...I want to win SOO bad!
ReplyDeleteI am going to be doing lots of the assessment for our upper grades and part of it will require me to count their responses to the reading passage. I like this both for recording their reading, and the retelling and comprehension part. When I am not using it for the assessment part, then the students will LOVE getting to record their own voice reading - so fun!!!

I would use this handy dandy tool in my Writing center and have my students read their paragraphs aloud and then listen to them.
ReplyDeleteI don't even know where to start because there are so many ways to use it. I could give directions for centers, use it to recored reading for the students and myself. Center work answers could be dictated in to the HEAR ALL. Some students could do their writing by recording their rough draft first before publicatiion. There are so many ways I could use this. I think this would be an awesome tool to use in many ways in our classroom. I could use it for feedback and for my young readers to critique themselves in Guided Reading. Or it could be my extra set of ears in workshops while I'm in small groups.

This product sounds great. I would use it for fluency, Daily Five and who knows what else. My reading partner and I have re-vamped our program and are excited to try many new activities!
