Today Was So Powerful!

What a wonderful day!!
The sisters didn't disappoint!

The truth is that my brain is due for a rest and I'm going to make this post a quickie and save the meat for later! :) I learned tons! I'm not even sure where to start sharing or just how to organize it all so that it is in the best blogger format. I will think on it tonight and post tomorrow! I'll highlight some topics though!
  1. Starting rooms blank!
  2. Anchor everything especially things on the wall to learning! As they learn it!
  3. Pictures for strategy vs. stickies on the Cafe board!
  4. Cafe board mix ups!! (alternative ways to display)
  5. Create your own PENSIVE on Zazzle!! Get 40% off with the code teachersrock
  6. Video Tape!
  7. Guided Reading - Small groups - students using diff. text - based on stragegy need vs. reading level
  8. Tons of book recommendations - professional as well as classroom.
  9. Strategy priorities
  10. Touch points for grading and assessment
  11. When to know you have to try something new.
  12. When you have to change up your teaching and knowing what to change up!
  13. IRI
Do you see what I mean!!??!?!?
Holy information Batman!!

What am I the most excited about??

Starting the year confident that I'm following best practice and knowing that I'm doing what is right and best for my kids!

It was as close as I will ever get
to an Oprah spectacular!

  2. I saw the sisters about 5 years ago at Nebraska's reading conference. At that point in time I was clueless, ...but life is full of 'what ifs'.

Now I'd like to attend their CAFE workshop, but so far they haven't been back to the midwest...or what I'd call the middle section of USA!

    Looking forward to your posts.

  6. Love the sisters! Went to their workshop last summer and it was "teacher-changing" 8). This will be my third year of D5 and CAFE and it has been wonderful for my students (and me!)
